As our summer holidays (or vacations as other might call them) approach, it is essential we look and feel our best. Whilst we love sunning it up on the beach and drinking cocktails by the sea, we still need to keep our skin hydrated and avoid the lobster look at all times.
As my trip to Ibiza fast approaches I thought I would share with you my top 5 holiday beauty and skincare essentials.
Okay so I hate to sound like your parents, moaning about making sure you have the right suncream etc, but honestly it is so important. None of us want to look like Madge from Benidorm (if you aren’t sure who she is, she is an old lady from a British TV Show, that clearly has spent 60 years in the sun and her skin is like leather.)
I mean I have naturally fair skin so two minutes into my sunbathing I tend to look a little red so it is essential I have a good suncream.
I have heard great things about the Aldi sunblock so given it’s only a few pounds I thought I would give it to. I will let you know what I think!
So my favourite Aftersun has to be the Malibu Moisturising Aftersun With Tan Extender, which is usually about £4 from drugstores.
It contains a little bit of tan – but not that much don’t worry, so it is an absolute dream when it comes to pale people like me who need a little help.
If you were blessed with the ability to get a good tan, then still make sure you use a good Aftersun because keeping your skin moisturised is essential to maintaining it.
Heat + Chlorine + Salty Water + years of bleaching = horrible hair for me.
I love using Aussie Miracle Recharge Leave-In Conditioner Spray Take the Heat, which is usually around £5 from Superdrug.
TOP TIP: If you don’t want to spend any money on fancy spray leave in conditioners, get a little bit of conditioner from your usual bottle and run it through the ends of your hair.
4. Bright Coloured Lipstick
It’s summer, the only time I inject a bit of colour into my wardrobe (she says packing black shorts and a black bikini) but also I like to inject brighter colours into my lipsticks.
My all-time summer favourite has to be MAC Razzle Dazzle – the orangey shade just screams summer!
TOP TIP: Treat yourself to a lip balm with added SPF to keep your lips hydrated throughout the day so they still look good when you apply lipstick in the evening.
5. Dry Oil
I love Dry Oil! It is actually more of an everyday essential than a holiday essential but because it has multi-use functions it means you will have more room for shoes and need less room for toiletries.
I use dry oil on my body and hair – so I essentially use it as a moisturiser for my body and a serum for my hair – simple as that.
My favourite has to be the NUXE Paris one because it doesn’t leave your skin looking or feeling greasy!
